Our newest project: a Library for Muko Sub-County, which will be located in the ACT Empowerment Center. A total of $1875 was raised at the October 4, 2016 meeting. If you were unable to attendbut would like to be a part of the Library project, please send your check, made payable to ACT Uganda, to ACT Uganda, P.O. Box 2565, Midland, MI 48641. Be sure to note on the check that it is for the Circle of Blessings Library Project.
Solar Lighting - One house now has solar lighting, with four more in the works. The individual who received the first light was amazed at how easy it is to flick a switch and have light in her house at night. The light, suspended very high near the ceiling, illuminates two rooms.
Sewing Machines - We have purchased one electric sewing machine and will be purchasing two more treadle machines. Approximately 16 women will be assigned 1/2 day slots each week to use the machines at the ACT Empowerment Center. The women worked with two of our mission team members to learn sewing techniques, and caught on very quickly! We will soon be selling their stuffed animals at our store, Uniquely Uganda.
Mushroom Houses - From the 24 individuals originally trained in mushroom growing, there are now over 200 individuals in Muko Sub-County growing mushrooms - for their own eating and for commercial purposes. Not all are making money yet, but they have formed cooperatives, are using good business practices, and are on their way!
Classroom and Student Supplies for children in Muko Sub-County. Items included composition books, pens, pencils, maps, globes, and reference materials for teachers -- most purchased in Uganda.
