ACT- Michigan’s growth requires new infrastructure

From a few dedicated board members in 2006 to now, the infrastructure of ACT-Michigan has changed significantly. Many more hands and skills are needed to complete the work required to sustain our programs and ministry in Muko, Uganda .

The ACT-Michigan board has grown to include representatives from five congregations including First United Methodist, Midland; Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Midland; St. John’s Episcopal, Midland; Memorial Presbyterian Church, Midland and our newest congregation: Holt Presbyterian Church in Holt, Michigan. The board is transitioning to more of a governance role, overseeing the activities of the teams below, rather than a hands-on board.

In addition to the new board members, we have established eight teams to complete more of the day-to-day work of the ministry. Those teams are:

*   Muko H.O.P.E. Team – Muko H.O.P.E. is a program of ACT that engages dedicated sponsors to assist the orphans of Muko Sub-County with their physical, educational, emotional and spiritual needs through prayer, personal relationship and monetary support with the outcome of providing greater life opportunities for each orphan.

*   MEP Team - Muko Empowerment Program (MEP) is a program of ACT that provides the opportunity for people of Muko Subcounty to learn vocational skills and earn a fair wage while additional revenues from the handcraft sales and other activities support the greater ACT programs of holistic community development for the people of Muko Subcounty.

*   Resource Development Team - The Resource Development Team works toward meeting the human and financial resource needs of ACT as a ministry by providing regular oversight of the financial reports as well as ensuring new resources, human and financial.

*   Communications Team - The Communications Team supports the mission of ACT by providing clear, accessible, current communication vehicles (like this article.)

*   Agriculture Team - The Agriculture Team of ACT exists to promote the right agriculture projects, education and support for the beneficiaries of ACT ( Muko Sub County ).

*   ACT Facilities Team - The ACT Facilities Team assesses, plans for and oversees the construction, purchase and maintenance of facilities and vehicles for ACT.

*   Mission Travel Team - The Mission Travel Team recommends timely mission travel to and from Uganda to the US and plans for the logistics of the travel and visits.

*   Spiritual Development Team - The Spiritual Development Team ensures regular prayer support for ACT, its staff, volunteers and beneficiaries as well as seeking ways to promote the ecumenical strength of the ministry both in the US and in Uganda.
