MUSIC Program (Muko Uganda String Instruments for Children)
MUSIC is a project recently introduced at the childrens’ schools. ACT envisions a performing string orchestra for the village and outlying community. In July, 2012, recorders, instructional books and lessons were given to seventy orphans in order to teach them to read music. In May, 2013, six violins, books, music stands and supplies were taken to Uganda and used to train older children and adults as leaders of string instruments playing.
Since then, thirteen more violins have been donated by a Michigan school district. Our vision is to combine the traditional orchestral works of the Western world and the tribal and popular works of Africa, representing our partnership.
