The Dress ProjectAt the end of February 2009, a single parishioner responded to a newsletter article on our efforts in Uganda. Her question was simply “How can I help?”. After some thought on the possibilities, the Dress Project was born at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. We had little idea about the total need but decided on an initial goal of 50-100 dresses. |

There has been a huge response of workers and donors to our initial request for participation. To date, we have delivered nearly 500 dresses to Muko. Also, it has been a diverse response across age groups and abilities. One woman told us of her daughter’s birthday party where the main activity was to make dresses for us. Another woman was working on them at home with her 91-year old mother. Another woman called from a local senior home and wanted to donate materials. And the Blessed Sacrament school children decided to donate their year’s fund-raising proceeds to our project. We’ve exceeded our initial goal but the group is not ready to quit. We’ll continue to make dresses with love. |
