Flat Midland Terrain Unlike the area of Muko, Midland has no hills. The area around Midland is very flat. Surrounding Midland is farm land, growing mainly corn, wheat, beets and soybeans.
Midland has about  40,000  residents.  There are many single one or two story high single family homes. Midland Neighborhood
Downtown Midland This area of Midland has a few small shops and restaurants. It is the area where Midland began as a town many years ago. It is unusual in the US because most towns have totally lost the original downtown.
The city has established seals to help identify the city and its vision of itself.  These seals are posted on the main expressway bridge over Eastman road. Seal of the City Seal of the City
Tridge This is one of the landmarks of Midland. Midland is located where three rivers (the Chippewa, Pine and Tittabawassee) come together. When Midland was first established, these rivers allowed large pine trees to be floated to the docks on Lake Huron to be shipped to New York to build houses.  A three-legged bridge (the Tridge) crosses where they meet. It is only a walking bridge.
Near the Tridge is the Farmers Market area.  Here, farmers come from the local area a few times a week, to sell their produce and flowers.  They can make more money doing this than by selling directly to individuals rather than to larger companies.  And people enjoy the fresh food better. Eastman Flowers Since winters can be so long in Midland, residents love flowers during the growing season.  Every year, volunteers plant miles of flowers along Eastman Road to make it more beautiful.
Another famous spot in Midland is the Dow Gardens.  It was originally owned by the founder of Dow Chemical Company.  Now it is an area for residents to walk among lovely scenery.  It is used year round. Dow Gardens Stream
Dow Gardens The Gardens staff grows many types of trees and flowers.  They are beautiful in spring and mid-summer.
Michigan is far enough north that it sees all four seasons, and each is unique its own way.  Fall is one of the most beautiful.  Trees turn many bright colors as the sun is less visible and the weather turns colder. Fall Colors
Winter For many people, winter is a season to get away from.  Those of us who have grown up with it can see the constant beauty (after the snow stops falling at least.)  (If you're wondering why the trees are glistening, its because they are wrapped in ice.  It must have rained before it turned cold.)
