Kindles and Baboons
Karen and Sharalyn began the day at the AEC sharing the new Kindle project. Each staff member received a Kindle reader with three books loaded. The staff was really excited about it !
Dave went immediately up to Muko HS and began training the bursar and setting records straight.
Karen and Sharalyn went up to MHS about 11 am and everyone worked with teachers, administration, and students. At 12:45 the Head Teacher Eric called all the students together for an assembly where we told them about the new administration and asked for their cooperation, good behavior, and consistent study. The ACT orphans met together to receive school supplies, fill out questionnaires ( which will go to sponsors) and have a frank talk. One of the big subjects was dating and sex. Students listened respectfully. It was great to see our kids again and we celebrated the students just transferred from Primary school to Secondary.
About 4 pm , Christopher drove Judith, Guma, Josiah and the team up the mountain to see the baboons near the Impenetrable Forest. The baboons come into the road where tourists feed them bananas and treats
This time there were three baboons that came out of the forest to see us, an alpha male and two smaller ones. They enjoyed a feast of bananas and we enjoyed watching them. The scenery there is indescribably beautiful, with terraced mountains, lush greenery, and a birds eye view of Lake Bunyonyi.
