Handmade Woven Items

Each of these stunning woven pieces carries with it hundreds of years of tradition and design. Crafted by hand, they take anywhere from 2–7 days to complete, depending on the complexity.

The process begins at Lake Bunyonyi, where the women harvest papyrus, carefully strip and coil it, and then weave it into beautiful, functional art using a simple iron nail as their primary tool.

Whether you're choosing a basket, tray, or bowl for yourself or as a meaningful gift, your purchase goes far beyond the item—know that you will likely help a mother pay for her child’s school fees and support a brighter future for families in Muko, Uganda.

Sewn Items

All of our beautifully sewn items - including aprons, tote bags, stuffed animals, microwave bags, placements, pot holders, tissue paper box holders, and bowl cozies - are made using vibrant, locally sourced Ugandan fabric. Many are handcrafted by women in our MEP (Mothers’ Empowerment Program), while others are created by dedicated volunteers in the U.S.

Our U.S.-based sewing volunteers also film instructional videos of each pattern and sewing process. These videos are uploaded to cloud-based storage, allowing the women in Uganda to access and learn new techniques—building skills, confidence, and economic opportunity with every stitch.

Even better, proceeds from every item sold go directly back to support community-led projects in Muko, Uganda—funding education, healthcare, agriculture, and more. Your purchase helps stitch together a stronger future.

Jewelry

Our MEP women create stunning handmade jewelry using vibrant paper beads. Each bead is carefully rolled—much like a crescent roll—then shellacked for strength and shine.

The beads are strung into beautiful necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, accented with delicate seed beads to enhance their color and design.

Every piece tells a story of creativity, resilience, and empowerment. And every purchase helps fund vital community projects in Muko, Uganda—supporting education, healthcare, and brighter futures for families.
