Celebrating Our Maverick Scholar: Isaac Ainembabazi’s Next Chapter

In August, we proudly shared the story of Isaac Ainembabazi, one of ACT Uganda’s outstanding Maverick Scholars, who had recently earned his Joint Master of Science Degree in Limnology and Wetland Management through a prestigious international program with three partner universities: BOKU University in Austria, IHE Delft in the Netherlands, and Egerton University in Kenya.

Now, we’re thrilled to share an exciting new milestone in Isaac’s journey. He has accepted a position as an Academic Consultant (Lecturer) at Victoria University (VU) in Kampala, Uganda!

In this role, Isaac is teaching master’s students in the Master of Health, Safety, and Environment program—a position that places him on a platform of tremendous opportunity, including the potential to pursue PhD-level studies in the future.

Beyond the classroom, Isaac has been entrusted by the Faculty of Science and Technology Dean at VU to lead a critical assessment of the employability of environmental science students in Uganda. His findings will inform the proposal to introduce a Bachelor of Environmental Science program at the university—a major step forward for environmental education in Uganda.

As Isaac continues to grow in his career, he remains deeply committed to giving back. He actively mentors other capable students, helping them find opportunities and scholarships, and serves as an inspiring example of how education can multiply its impact through compassion and leadership.

Isaac truly embodies the spirit of “paying it forward.”
We are so proud of him—and excited to see the difference he will continue to make in Uganda and beyond.
