The ACT Uganda hardware store is our social business that provides supplies to locals, employment, and revenue to continue operating and expanding our other community enrichment programs.

As the year draws to an end, many of us are receiving heartfelt requests from organizations asking for one final donation. We know it can be difficult to decide where to give - none of us can support every cause.

We are reaching out because this moment matters.

ACT Uganda is actively working toward an important goal: creating more social businesses in the Rubanda District of Uganda. These social enterprises are designed to do two critical things: provide valuable products and services to local communities, and generate sustainable revenue that helps ensure the long-term effectiveness of ACT’s programs.

This work is urgent.

More than 50% of people living in the Rubanda District live in deep poverty, and typically survive on less than $1.79 a day. Nearly 10% are living in or near famine conditions. Jobs are scarce, and families face daily challenges just to meet basic needs like food, clean water, and healthcare. For many, opportunity feels out of reach.

The social businesses we are creating will provide products and services to the community as well as revenue streams to ensure long-term effectiveness of the programs of ACT Uganda.
