🌍 A Transformative Journey: ACT & Muko High School in Partnership 💫

In early August 2017, our dedicated ACT US travel team spent two unforgettable weeks in Muko, Uganda, collaborating closely with our Ugandan partners on vital programs—including our student scholarship initiative. As our visit came to a close, our ACT Director Generous Turinawe surprised us with one last meeting: a scheduled appointment with Bishop George Bagamuhunda of the Church of Uganda's Kigezi Diocese. Their mission? To explore how ACT could support the ongoing operations at Muko High School (MHS).

As Generous jokingly said to us:

“We know how to save souls; you know how to run schools.”

The very next day, on the way to Kampala and Entebbe Airport, our travel team rendezvoused with the Bishop along the roadside in Masaka—a fittingly humble venue for the start of something extraordinary. There, we reached an Agreement in Principle to move forward together.

Over the following months, we formalized our commitment through a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), implemented on December 2, 2017. ACT Uganda officially took the reins of the school in January 2018, marking the beginning of a new chapter for MHS. As the first phase concluded in December 2020, ACT renewed and extended the MOU for four more years, guiding the school through to the end of 2024.

It was with immense pride that on November 16, 2024, we celebrated the official return of Muko High School to the Diocese of Kigezi—seven years of partnership, growth, and shared achievement.

Local leadership empowered, as the Diocese gradually resumed full control

Sustainable impact achieved, through long-term commitment and mutual respect
